Ladies, lifting weights will not make you big and bulky!
As we resume life with a new kind of normal and gyms slowly begin to re-open, you may be considering kickstarting your resistance training, or you may finally want to build that ‘toned’ physique you have been dreaming of throughout lock down!
One of the biggest concerns I hear from female clients when discussing a resistance training programme is ‘… I don’t want to get big and bulky’. Ladies, I am here to reassure you that you WILL NOT get big, bulky, or masculine when you start lifting weights.
Why not you may ask…men do?
As you are aware, men and women differ in many ways; physically, physiologically and emotionally. When it comes to training, recovery time is different, training needs are different, body shape is different, body composition is different, muscle fiber structure is different.
Additionally, hormone levels are different. The hormonal differences between men and women are huge. Us females do not possess anywhere near the same levels of testosterone as men, which means that it is much harder for us to gain muscle mass. Indeed many men, with their higher levels of testosterone still struggle to gain mass.
Whilst women can certainly increase muscle size and shape (read ‘tone’, ‘definition’, ‘curves’), they will never look like a man as a result of strength training. (If you have ever seen such a women, the chances are, she is a professional bodybuilder/athlete supplementing her training).
Women can get strong, seriously strong!… but a woman quite simply, will never get ‘huge’ as a result of resistance training.
However, what resistance training CAN do is enhance your natural female curves and sculpt beautiful shapes, allowing you to look and feel sexier than ever!
Have you ever wanted?…
- Leaner legs
- Sculpted arms
- A pert peach
- A flatter stomach
- A shapely sexy body that looks good naked
- A body you can be proud of
- An inner confidence that exudes beauty from the inside out
If so…resistance training is the answer!
Incorporating this into your training will result in you becoming a leaner, stronger, curvier, sexier and more confident version of you…and in my experience, that is exactly what most women want!
So Ladies, please don’t be afraid to step out of the cardio area and start to pick up some weights. It will be the most effective step you can take to achieving the body you have always dreamt of.
